Wilmington, Delaware – Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit the United States from September 21 to 23, coinciding with a significant Quad Leaders’ Summit hosted by President Joe Biden. The summit will bring together leaders from Australia and Japan, including Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Prime Minister Kishida Fumio.

In a surprising announcement, former President Donald Trump revealed during a town hall meeting that he will meet Modi next week. Trump praised Modi as a “fantastic man,” despite criticizing India’s high import tariffs, referring to the country as a “big abuser” in trade matters.

Trump’s remarks came as he discussed trade policies, emphasizing the need for reciprocal tariffs. “If anybody charges us 10 cents, we’ll charge them the same,” he stated, underscoring his stance on trade fairness with countries like India, Brazil, and China.

Following the Quad summit, PM Modi is set to address a major community event in Long Island on September 22, before speaking at the Summit of the Future at the United Nations headquarters the next day. His visit arrives just weeks before the US presidential election, where Trump and Democratic nominee Vice President Kamala Harris are vying for the top position.

As international leaders gather, the discussions at the summit are expected to focus on regional security, trade, and collaborative efforts in the Indo-Pacific.
