Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal confirmed he will undergo surgery for a cruciate ligament injury sustained during Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Villarreal in LaLiga. The 32-year-old was stretchered off in stoppage time after a collision with Villarreal midfielder Yeremy Pino, resulting in an unnatural movement of his right knee.

This injury is a significant setback for Real Madrid, as Carvajal is a key player in the squad and is even in contention for this year’s Ballon d’Or. His absence will be felt in crucial upcoming matches.

Manager Carlo Ancelotti acknowledged the gravity of the situation, stating, “It looks like a pretty serious knee injury; the dressing room is sad and worried.” He emphasized Carvajal’s importance to the team, citing his experience and leadership.

Real Madrid had just bounced back from two disappointing matches, having lost 1-0 to Lille in the Champions League and drawn 1-1 against Atletico Madrid. However, the joy of victory was overshadowed by Carvajal’s injury, leaving both fans and teammates concerned about the road ahead.
